The CIT program is a two-week camp where campers interested in becoming camp counselors learn the ins and outs of camp. Their first week is a team development trip off-site and the CITs will be trained by experienced Sky-Y counselors on working with youth and especially campers. After the trip, CITs will return to Sky-Y and work as volunteer counselors for their second week with additional trainings in the evenings. The CIT experience creates friendships and bonds that last a lifetime and truly helps the campers grow and be ready to take on the tasks of summer camp counselors.

Sky-Y Adventure camp is being re-launched. If your camper has seen and done it all here, we have a brand new challenge for them to try. Adventure Camp will be week long outdoor experience. With trained counselors, adventure campers will check-in and immediately start planning their week long backpacking trip into the Bradshaw Mountains. On their second morning these campers will hike directly out of Sky-Y and head out on a 20 mile journey to Maverick Point and back. With the aid of their counselors, these campers pack up what’s needed, plot their course, cook meals over campfire and reach the top. Campers will return from their journey on Friday Evening in time for Camp Sky-Y’s closing ceremonies.
All supplies and gear will be provided, but if campers wish to bring their own, any personal equipment is welcomed.
CHALLENGER TRAILS (AGES 13-16)
SKY-Y’S NEWEST PROGRAM FOR OLDER CAMPERS
YMCA Member Fee: $505 | Non-Member Fee $605
Formerly known as specialty camps, Challenger Trails allow campers to sign-up for a much more in-depth experience with the programs they have grown to love over their years at Sky-Y. Campers will be able to choose 1 activity to specialize in during their week of camp. Every morning, challengers will hit their trail between breakfast and lunch and then spend the afternoons with their cabins or signing up for other fun activities. For more information on each trail, see the list below.
The archer trail takes bow and arrow to whole new levels with drills, games, time trials and shoot-outs. Learn how to take care of the equipment, practice your aim and draw and shoot from 10, 15 or even 20 yards on our newly built range. Sky-Y also offers the advanced range at 40 yards where campers can shoot from the shooting line on the ground, or climb to the 20 foot tree stand for the extra challenge. Archers will then put their skills to the test at the end of the week during a wild game of archery tag.
The artist trail will spend their first day learning about different styles of art. From Charcoal and Pastel to Ceramics and Paint, these campers can work on one large project or explore any and every medium available. Artists will get to explore the outdoors and find the right spot in camp to paint, sketch or illustrate their favorite view. The artist trail ends with the campers creating a mural or artistic piece as a decoration for camp.

The marksmen trail gives campers an amazing opportunity to learn the proper use of firearms. The first day of camp consists of firearm safety, taught by certified instructors. This class will also go over the basics of cleaning/maintaining equipment, as well as range and hunter safety. The marksmen will start off small by shooting at both the archery and BB Gun ranges. Then the marksmen will then be able to go and shoot .22 caliber rifles and end their week with a sporting clay shoot out with 20 gauge shotguns.
The Great Outdoors
The Outdoor Trail is camping at its roots; starting big with the camper’s first day being a lake trip for canoeing and fishing. Campers will also learn to plot their own hike with map and compass skills, make their own rope and use it to build an outdoor shelter. (overnight in shelters is optional) These campers will get a chance to cook a meal with campfires and Dutch Ovens. Finally this trail offers animal studies in our nature lodge and forest ecology.
