Explore New Adventures at Camp
Formerly known as specialty camps, Challenger Trails allow campers to sign-up for a much more in-depth experience with the programs they have grown to love over their years at Sky-Y. Campers will be able to choose one activity to specialize in during their week of camp. Every morning, Challengers will hit their trail between breakfast and lunch and then spend the afternoons with their cabin-mates or sign up for other fun activities. For more information on each Trail, see the list below.
ARCHER TRAIL
The Archer Trail takes bow and arrow to whole new levels with drills, games, time trials and shoot-outs. Learn how to take care of the equipment, practice your aim and draw and shoot from 10, 15 or even 20 yards on our newly built range. Archers will then put their skills to the test at the end of the week during a wild game of archery tag.
ARTIST TRAIL
The Artist Trail will spend their first day learning about different styles of art. From Charcoal and Pastel to Ceramics and Paint, these campers can work on one large project or explore any and every medium available. Artists will get to explore the outdoors and find the right spot in camp to paint, sketch or illustrate their favorite view. The Artist Trail ends with the campers creating a mural or artistic piece as a decoration for camp.
CLIMBER TRAIL
Each day, the Climber Trail will reach new heights. Tower, High Ropes and Swing are just the beginning. Climbers will learn how to tie climbing knots, build their own challenges on the ropes course, and end the week rock climbing in the boulders.
MARKSMEN TRAIL (SPORTSMAN'S CAMP)
The Marksmen Trail gives campers an amazing opportunity to learn the proper use of firearms. The first day of camp consists of firearm safety. This class will also go over the basics of cleaning/maintaining equipment, as well as range and hunter safety. The marksmen will start off gradually by shooting at both the archery and BB Gun ranges. Then the marksmen will then be able to go and shoot .22 caliber rifles and end their week with a sporting clay shootout with 20 gauge shotguns. The Marksmen Trail is offered off-site at an approved and licensed range.
HORSEBACK TRAIL (SADDLE CLUB)
The Horseback Trail allows campers to be with the horses and wranglers every day at camp. Horseback Trail campers will not only go on multiple trail rides, but will also learn about the care of horses. From cleaning and feeding, to saddling and bridling; these campers will experience what it’s like to be a real wrangler. Throughout the week, the Horseback Trail will also learn the parts of a horse, different breeds and all types of horseback activities.
PAINTBALL TRAIL (SECRET AGENT CAMP)
A Summer Camp favorite -Paintballers will focus on building strategy and tactics in our newly renovated paintball arena. On day one, they will learn about firearm safety and maintenance. On day 2, paintballers are led by staff in team building activities, tactical communication, and leadership. Thursday night features paintball in the dark with glow in the dark paint. On Friday, the paintballers will team up with the Archer Trail for an all-out game of archery tag (nerf arrows in the paintball arena).
