Stay in Touch with the YMCA Camps
During your time at Y Camp, you will absolutely make new friends. Staying in touch after camp can be a great way to continue those friendships and hold on to your camp memories. There are lots of ways that you can stay in touch with your camp friends as well as staff members at Y Camp.
- Exchange addresses, phone numbers, emails and social media info before you leave camp.
- Come to one of our year round Y Camp programs or volunteer events.
- Once you are old enough and obtain your parent’s permission, keep in touch with Y Camp online.
- Become a fan of Y Camps on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, visit our You Tube and Instagram pages.
As summer comes to and end and you head back to school, you may find yourself feeling a little “camp sick.” For many people, a summer at Y Camp is an amazing experience which will be greatly missed. Keeping in touch with camp friends, sharing pictures and video from the summer, and keeping a daily camp journal are great ways to treasure your Y Camp memories.
The nice thing about Y Camp is that it is always there, and you are welcome to come back for some of our year-round programs, family camp, winter camp or you can get involved by volunteering. You can find out more information on some of our other camps throughout our website!
These events are a great way to share the magic of camp with your family. You can show your parents your favorite hiking trail or watch them try out the high ropes course! These programs can also be a great way to introduce a younger sibling to the Y Camp experience.
This 2-week program is an introduction to learning, working with and teaching children, and learning the roles and duties of a camp staff member. CITs will learn songs and games, leadership, behavior management, teaching camp activities, and the incorporation of YMCA core values in camp life. We will have an opportunity to visit another camp, give a tour of Sky-Y to other CITs, assist younger campers in signing up for activities, and help create a fun and exciting camp event. This camp involves a 1 week overnight camping trip just for CITs. CITs focus on improving communication and team building skills with their peers. Campers will have an opportunity to shadow an older camp staff and put some of their learned skills to use by helping as an assistant counselor in a cabin of younger campers. An application is required and CITs will be chosen on the basis of maturity, prior leadership, work, volunteer, or childcare experience.
All the spirit, energy, and goodness of summer camp, set in a 4 day and night winter wonderland. Winter camp is open to kids 8 and up! Campers and counselors stay in cozy lodges and activities include paintball, archery, campfires, arts and crafts, climbing tower, giant swing & ropes course, crazy songs & skits, and more! The structure is similar to summer camp, and campers get to choose activity periods. Under the direction of our Professional YMCA Staff, you can be assured that your campers will be safe, well cared for and have a great holiday vacation.
